Built on a 1380sq.m. plot situated on the busy Vouliagmenis Avenue in Glyfada, Epsilon’s new office building is meant to reflect the company’s premium services and global reach within the shipping industry and asserts that a corporate workspace can be both elegant and contemporary.
The diaphanous shell of the three-level head office is enveloped by a curtain walling whose wavy and undulating geometry hints at the marine world.
Composed of aluminum honeycomb panels, these fixed vertical shades filter the natural light and frame the views to the outside. The different materials used, like the grey ceramic slabs and the thermal insulation, add diversity to the design. The outdoor space along the front side is based on the concept of «plateia», or square, where different sitting areas provide hubs for gatherings, short breaks, and impromptu encounters, all the while blending the limits between private and public space.
The ground floor comprises the reception area, a communal cafeteria, kitchen, and a number of commercial spaces. All of Epsilon’s executive offices and the conference room are located on the first and second floors. Below-the-ground facilities include the parking, storage, and mechanical spaces.
Materials such as wood, Arabescato and Pietra grey marbles, and leather are woven into each other and compose a tasteful and refined atmosphere. Despite the building’s glass shell and its overall openness to the outside, the offices revolve around a double-height lounge area, protected from the busy location.
The plants and the Barrisol ceiling lightbox that enlightens the space make this space feel directly connected to the outside. This way, the interior strings together privacy and communal socialization, as well as indoors and outdoors.
Shaded with a long, metal pergola, the rooftop is designed to host a diverse range of activities and serve as a flexible space that brings together various uses.
