Lodged in the ground floor of an interwar period building, in a prime retail zone in downtown Athens, OROeORA Printezis is an urban destination for high-end timepieces and fine jewellery.
To house the OROeORA collections, the interior design takes its cue from the brand’s initial store in Glyfada. Τhe narrow, deep space is conceived as a cabinet des curiosités doubling as a wonder-sanctuary in the bustling city center. Light and view are regulated by two rotating woven leather screens rendering the glass storefront into a porous play of privacy and voyeurism.
The floor is laid with large grey ceramic slabs that invite the cityscape hues in while providing a seamless surface. The black ceiling crowns the solemn atmosphere of the store while a vertical wood slats wall runs the length of the space blending minimalist aesthetics and floor-to-ceiling hidden storage. This wooden spine also allows for the creation of two distinct ground levels, evening out the irregularities of the initial floorplan.
The artistry of the OROeORA accessories is equally reflected in the product design that sets the scene for shopping as a savvy collector. From the black wooden table and bench paired with a set of Tom Dixon chairs to the iroko wood showcase propped against the wall to display accessories and other hand-picked artifacts, the bronze details and brass accents on the lighting fixtures and the doorknobs, all lead to an immersive retail experience. The only element interrupting this opulent stillness is the sliding mirror that disappears behind the back wall, changing the pace of the space.
